Description

This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) will support eradicating polio globally, eliminating measles and rubella, and vaccination in public health emergencies by:

• Improving vaccination performance in routine immunization and supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) (PREVENT)

• Improving vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) surveillance performance (DETECT)

• Improving outbreak response performance (RESPOND)

• Ensuring programs are sustainable

• Leveraging innovation to accelerate progress

These activities are critical to the health, economic prosperity, and security of Americans by reducing the risk of disease importation to the U.S.; reducing illness, disability, and death in the U.S. and overseas; reducing risk of disease-related trade disruptions; increasing U.S. business prosperity; and increasing safety and stability for Americans at home and overseas. This NOFO may also be used to support activities to address other global health priorities that align with CDC goals. This NOFO will have two components:

• Component A - Capacity Building for Global, Regional, and National Immunization Programs

• Component B – Implementing and supporting the National Stop Transmission Of Polio Program (NSTOP) and other VPD programming in Pakistan in support of the Federal Directorate of Immunizations and Provincial government counterparts Applicants are required to apply for at least one of the components under the NOFO and may apply for both components. If applicants apply for both components, each component application will be evaluated separately. This NOFO will advance U.S. health security by reaching populations at the greatest risk for polio, measles, and other VPDs to prevent disease transmission to the U.S. Specific populations include:

• Infants. • Children.

• Adolescents.

• Pregnant women.

• Public Health Workers

• Adults who are eligible for immunizations throughout their lives

Additionally, this NOFO seeks to reach hard-to-reach communities that have experienced recurring outbreaks of VPDs, including those in areas that are hard-to-access due to geography or insecurity. For Component B in Pakistan specifically, this includes the Provinces of Khyber Pahktunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh as defined geographic high risk areas. This NOFO also supports work in the Islamabad Capital Territory through the Pakistan National Polio Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the Federal Directorate of Immunizations (FDI), and the Pakistan National Institutes of Health (PNIH).
